Ingredients:
– 2 cups all-purpose flour
– 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
– 1/2 cup granulated sugar
– 1/4 teaspoon salt
– 1 large egg
– 2 cups cherry pie filling
– 1 teaspoon almond extract
– 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
– 1-2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
– 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)
Directions:
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
2. In a large bowl, combine flour, softened butter, granulated sugar, and salt until crumbly.
3. Reserve 1 1/2 cups of the crumb mixture for the topping.
4. Press the remaining mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan to form the crust.
5. Bake the crust for 12-15 minutes or until lightly golden.
6. In a separate bowl, mix cherry pie filling and almond extract. Spread the mixture evenly over the baked crust.
7. Sprinkle the reserved crumb mixture over the cherry layer.
8. Bake for an additional 25-30 minutes or until the topping is golden brown.
9. Allow the bars to cool completely.
10. In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract to make the glaze. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled bars.
